Overview

Monsoon has almost settled and there is all greenery and flower blossoms, see the jewel of all forts of the Sahyadri with the yellow sonki flower blooms. Ratangad (The Jewel Of Sahyadris) is a fort in Ratan Wadi, Maharashtra, India, overlooking the locale of Bhandardara, one of the oldest artificial catchment area. The fort is about 2000 years old.
Ratangad was captured by Chhatrapati Shivaji Raje Bhosle. The base village Ratanwadi has an Amruteshwar temple which is famous for its carvings. The fort is the origin for the river Pravara/Amrutvahini. The Bhandardara dam(arthar dam) is built on this river.

Itinerary

Day 0:

11.00 pm : Leave from Mumbai via non AC private bus

 

Day 1:

2:30 am : Break in journey

5:00 am : Reach Ratanwadi Village

6:30 am : After breakfast & introduction session, start trekking

11:00 am : Reach on top & enjoy the view of surrounding ranges of Sahyadri 

12:00 pm : Start the downward trek

02:30 pm : Reach Ratanwadi village  and have lunch

03:30 pm : Start return journey 

9:00 pm : Reach Mumbai

 

*The above timings are tentative. We try our best to follow them, however, there might be delays owing to external factors.

Also, there is limited / no network at the remote locations sometimes, so it would be hard for communication at home. We will inform at the earliest when we enter the network regions.

  • Cap, Windcheater and trekking shoes advisable. (Please avoid sneakers, canvas shoes having flat soles as they provide poor traction and grip and tend to slip)
  • Extra pair of clothes
  • Camera (optional)
  • Personal medicines, if any
