Kaas plateau is a plateau located near Satara. It has been awarded as a UNESCO’s World Heritage Site (WHS). The Kaas Plateau is a laterite soil table land, typical of the the Western Ghats in Maharashtra. In the monsoon months, the Kaas Pathar, as it is locally known, transforms into a wildflower wonderland. More particularly so in September when vivid shades of pink balsams, yellow smithias and blue utricularias carpet the vast grasslands. It’s a must visit for serious botanists, amateur photographers to witness the spectrum of Western Ghats monsoon montane grasslands flora, some of which are rare and endangered.

Kohoj is a hill fort situated 100 km north of Mumbai on the Wada-Manor highway. It is around 800 years old and is one of the forts surrendered to the Mughals in the Purandar treaty. Today, this fort serves as a perfect trekking destination during monsoons. A beautiful Pazhar lake lies to the base of this mountain. A rock resembling the shape of a human is a major point of attraction at the top.  Apart from this pillar, one can also find Kohoj devi temple near to a small lake at the top.

Height of Waterfall 115 feet. Trek is very easy with beautiful panoramic views of the surroundings. You will walk beside the Dhom dam while crossing a small water stream. This short trek is one of the most scenic treks that can be done easily by all age groups. The waterfall lies just below a small village known as Sagachi wadi. The famous Garbett point trek can be done via this route from the village. On the top of this village, the beautiful Matheran range can be seen.

Ranthambore Wildlife Reserve is known for its tigers and is one of the best places in India to watch animals in their natural habitat. Tigers can be easily spotted even in the Day time. The parks deciduous forests are characteristic examples of the type of jungle found in Central India. Other major animals include leopard, sloth bears, Sambhar deer, Nilgai, striped hyena, Rhesus macaque and Chital. The reserve is home to a variety of birds’ plants as well as one of the largest banyan trees in India.  Kids Policy: Kids below 5 years of age would not be charged any extra  However, if you opt for a separate seat for the kids in the safari jeep, then it would be chargeable Kids with age 5-12 years would be charged at a discounted price

The fort is named after saint Goraknath, who used to perform penance here. It was used in the era of Shivaji Maharaj, mainly as a stopover point from Junnar via Naneghat. The adjoining Machindragad peak is named after the teacher-disciple relationship of Machindranath and Gorakhnath. During monsoon season, the Gorakhgad Trek takes on a whole new appearance. While there, take a moment to observe, listen and smell and you will feel the forest come alive around you. The view of the numerous cascading waterfalls and a large range of wildflowers only add to its charm. Hamta Pass is an unusual, special pass. It climbs out of lush green valleys of Kullu to an overhang high in the mountains. The overhang you stand on is a window to a drastically different world: the deserts of Lahaul. From the pass, you see the Lahaul valley in one wide panoramic sweep! It is one the most surreal twists in landscape you’ll see! The Chandratal Lake Trek with Hamta Pass, a treasure trove for the ardent as well amateur trekkers, holds the charm and allurement like any other treks in the Himalayas. Although a short trek, the scenic landscape exposes trails that meander through alpine forests, huge rock formations, and remarkably rich vegetation. 

Irshalgad is a fortress located between Matheran and Panvel in Maharashtra. The area of the fort is not large but there are several water cisterns cut from the rock. The nearest village is Irshalwadi. The easy trail enchants some magnificient views over Morbe Dam, Prabalgad and Matheran plateaus. We rate this as most beautiful and easy trek in and around Karjat.
