Peb fort derives its name from the Goddess 'Pebi'. It is also called Vikatgad because its pinnacle is supposedly in the shape of the Elephant headed god - Ganesha. Historical references clearly indicate that Shivaji Maharaj used the caves on the fort as silos for grain storage. The cave on the fort is occupied by disciples of Swami Samarth, a great saint. They have contributed a lot to development on this fort from last ten years. They have managed successfully to keep the cave and the fort clean, and maintained the dignity of the fort. The fort lies in the Matheran range itself and is adjacent to Matheran. It is an easy trek, with the slightly difficult parts being the small rock patch and a ladder. It is a photographer's paradise. 

Bhimashankar is known to be one of the most ancient trek routes in Sahyadri ranges. This route puts your endurance level to test. It contains hills and down-hill plateaus and pastures, dense forest of karvi plants, ever-changing colors, and breathtaking beauty. Highly recommended trek for amazing trekking experience. 

Sondai is a small but beautiful trek situated in the Matheran range. It is more of a watch tower than a fort. It derives its name from a local deity Sondai devi. One can get a view of Morbe dam reservoir, Irshalgad, Matheran hills and Garbett plateau from the top. Sondewadi is the base village for this trek.

Matheran has garnered a reputation of one of the most favourite hill-stations around Mumbai for various reasons. The bountiful rains, lush greenery and waterfalls around. Matheran covers an area of 8 square kilometers in Sahyadris. This Fantastic spot was discovered in 1850 by Hugh Poyntz Malet, the collector of Thane district. Garbett point is located on South-west side of Matheran with grand view of the plateau.Climate here is very cool with some breath taking views.

Kalsubai with the height of 1646 m [5400 ft] is famous as its the highest peak of the Sahyadri Range as well as Maharashtra. It commands a beautiful view of the surrounding lush green territory. Since the route to Kalsubai peak is highly frequented, enough efforts have been made to make this trek easier. There are steel railings, chains and ladders at places where it is difficult to negotiate the terrain.

Sudhagad is a hill fort having origins from 2nd century BC. In 1436, it was captured by the Brahmani Sultan which was taken over by the Marathas in 1657. Sudhagad was considered as the capital of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's kingdom. The fort has ruins of Shiva temple and a huge plateau that has two lakes, a house, a big granary, some tombs, a shrine and numerous other ruins scattered over the fort area. From the top, other forts namely Sarasgad, Korigad, Ghangad and Taila-Baila are clearly visible.

Harishchandragad is one of the best high forts near Mumbai, Maharashtra. Strong fortifications of this fort have multiple entry routes such as the Junnar gate route, Sadhale ghat, Nalichi waat and Indore waat. The carvings on the temples of Nageshwar in Khireshwar village, in the Harishchandreshwar temple and in the cave of Kedareshwar indicate that the fort belongs to the medieval period since it is related to Shaiva, Shakta or Naath. Later the fort was under the control of Moghuls. The Marathas captured it in 1747.
