Tikona (also known as Vitandgad) is the dominant hill fort in Maval region in western India. It is located near Kamshet around 120 km from Mumbai. The village nearest to the fort is called Tikona-Peth. The 3500 ft high hill is pyramidal in shape and the name Tikona means "triangle". The fort is a trekking destination noted for the large doors, the temple of 'Trimbakeshwar Mahadev', water tanks (seven water tanks) and some Satvahan caves. The fort is the origin for the river Pravara/Amrutvahini. The Bhandardara dam(arthar dam) is built on this river. Sondai is a small but beautiful trek situated in the Matheran range. It is more of a watch tower than a fort. It derives its name from a local deity Sondai devi. One can get a view of Morbe dam reservoir, Irshalgad, Matheran hills and Garbett plateau from the top. Sondewadi is the base village for this trek.

Asherigad is a hill fort located around 100 km from Mumbai in Palghar district. It was built by Bhojraj of Shilahar Dynasty about 800 years back (13th century). Later, the Portuguese rebuilt this fort after they captured it during their rule. In 1737, Peshwas won this fort during their campaign of the Konkan and in 1818 this fort came under the British rule. The trail initially moves through dense forest and later opens up to a rocky patch. There is a ladder which can be used to navigate through this part. There are water tanks and a small temple at the top. Rest of the fort lies in ruins.

Matheran has garnered a reputation of one of the most favourite hill-stations around Mumbai for various reasons. The bountiful rains, lush greenery and waterfalls around. Matheran covers an area of 8 square kilometers in Sahyadris. This Fantastic spot was discovered in 1850 by Hugh Poyntz Malet, the collector of Thane district. Garbett point is located on South-west side of Matheran with grand view of the plateau.Climate here is very cool with some breath taking views.

One of the most beautiful treks of Manali takes us to a magnificently landscaped Parkuni lake in Hallan valley.  Parkuni lake, sometimes also known as hidden lake, is small glacial lake situated at an altitude of 14,000 The trail runs along the lush green meadows and most of the times and passes through a cool herb-laden area and small rivulets. The high snow clad peaks of the region dominate the horizon. Camping in the beautiful meadows surrounded with the rhododendrons and birch trees makes the trip unforgettable. 

Kalsubai with the height of 1646 m [5400 ft] is famous as its the highest peak of the Sahyadri Range as well as Maharashtra. It commands a beautiful view of the surrounding lush green territory. Since the route to Kalsubai peak is highly frequented, enough efforts have been made to make this trek easier. There are steel railings, chains and ladders at places where it is difficult to negotiate the terrain.
